Meetings
The Mary Martha Guild meets the third Saturday of every month
at 8:40
a.m., in the Sam Adams House (the "white house" on the
west side of the Rectory), located at 314 Duke Street.
By devoting one hour or more per week, Guild members
design and maintain our church in harmony with the liturgical calendar. Guild membership
is ideal for mothers and daughters who wish to serve the church in
a special way. All parishioners are welcome to become members.
The Mary Martha Guild is a new service society open to those who wish
to honor Our Lord in His Real Presence and to grow closer to Him through
prayer and special service to our historic church.
- Guild members may donate as little as one hour of service per week,
either in church centered or home-based activities that support Guild
projects.
- Artistic and craft skills are most welcome, but devotion to Our Lord
and Holy Mother Church is the most essential attribute for Guild membership.
- Responsibilities include the planning of church decorations and the
daily care of flowers and plants that adorn the sanctuary and other
church areas during the liturgical year, for the following times and
events:
- Advent Season [Four Weeks]
- Forty Hours Devotion
- Christmas Season [Three Weeks]
- Lenten Season [Six Weeks]
- Confirmation Mass
- Holy Thursday Mass and Reposition Altar
- Easter Season [Eight Weeks]
- Divine Mercy Sunday
- First Holy Communion Masses
- St. Mary’s School Graduation
- Solemnity of the Ascension
- Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity
- Solemnity of Corpus Christi
- Feast of the Assumption
- Feast of the Queenship of Mary
- Solemnity of Christ the King
- Wedding and Funeral Masses
Guild activities are ideal for mothers and daughters who wish to
team with others in seasonal or in ongoing service projects for the
church.
- The goal of the Guild is to become a center of excellence for all
types of Catholic arts and crafts – including the making of Rosaries,
processional banners and canopies; greeting cards and writing papers;
prayer cards and worship aids for the use of the church and the community.
- Reverend Father Michael J. R. Kelly serves as the Spiritual Director of the
Guild.
